AFMRD is delighted to share a scholarship opportunity! Last year we were pleased to offer scholarships to Dr. Robert Langan and Dr. C. Peony Khoo. Dr. Langan and Dr. Khoo shared the following about their experiences:

Once again, AFMRD will sponsor TWO (2) members to attend the ACGME Developing Faculty Competencies in Assessment course at the ACGME (Chicago), 401 North Michigan Avenue, Suite 200, Chicago, IL in 2026. This course focuses on one of the major challenges for outcomes-based graduate medical education (GME): designing assessment programs that facilitate the longitudinal professional development of residents and fellows.
Summer Course Dates: August 9-14, 2026
Fall Course Dates: October 4-9, 2026
Winter Course Dates: November 8-13, 2026
- Residency Leader who is an AFMRD Member and responsible for implementing appropriate changes in their residency
- First-time attendee
- Availability to attend one session in its entirety
- Letter of support from your institution
Interested and eligible members will be asked to complete an application and submit a current CV, a statement (maximum 300 words), describing prior CBME experience and why the applicant wishes to attend, and a letter of support from your institution.
Applications are now closed. Recipients will be announced June 23, 2026, so that recipients have adequate time to register.
After completing the course, scholarship awardees will be expected to develop or change one (1) CBME tool at their program, then present it in some capacity at an AFMRD board meeting. Scholarship recipients will be expected to report (1) findings, experiences, and opportunities at their residency and (2) outline platform(s) for sharing those with membership (i.e. PD Toolbox, webinar presentation, or at the annual AFMRD business meeting).
Selected members will be reimbursed by AFMRD with itemized receipts for course registration fees, travel-related expenses (coach airfare, mileage, parking, ground transportation), lodging, and meals up to $100 per day.
